Splendor of China
The
People's Republic of China, located in the east of Eurasia, China ranges
from northern temperate and subtropical zones, covering an area of 9.6
million square kilometres extending over 5,000 kilometres from east
to west and over 5,500 kilometres from north to south.
This great country
has a brilliant recorded history of over 5,000 years. It has a population
of close to 1.1 billion people ranging over more than 50 nationalities.
The whole country is divided into 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions
and 3 municipalities directly under the jurisdiction of the central
government, namely Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. Beijing is the capital.
With abundant natural
resources, majestic Yangtze River Gorges, picturesque Lijiang River,
snow-covered north China, a sandy southern coast, misty Huangshan Mountain,
beautiful West Lake and the elegant water country of of southern Yangtze
River, China will no doubt give you an indelible impression.
