Day 21 (Sun) Hangzhou/Shanghai/Yichang (by coach/air) This morning, depart Hangzhou via coach to Shanghai, then fly to Yichang, the embarkation point of the Yangtze River cruise and embark on the deluxe M.S. Splendid China, your home for the next four nights. (B/L/D) Cruise: M.S. Splendid China or similiar Day 22 (Mon) Yangtze Cruise This morning you will pass through a 5-step ship locks that takes approx. 3 hours. You will then be transferred via coach to inspect the “Three Gorges Dam”, the world's largest and most powerful hydroelectric dam. Towering 610 feet high and stretching 1.3 miles ile, the dam will create a reservoir that extends nearly 400 miles upstream. With swells of national pride, some Chinese call this dam the modern Greta Wall. Return to ship and enter into the first Gorge – Xiling Gorge, the longest and previously the most hazardous, along the magnificent gorge. Enjoy charming villages, lush terraced hillsides, and historic landmarks dotting the country side as you cruise by. You arrive Badong in the early evening. Tonight, enjoy the Captain's Welcome Dinner followed by an evening entertainment performed by the cruise director and river guides with singing and dancing performance. (B/L/D) Day 23 (Tue) Yangtze Cruise After breakfast, a shore excursion of the Lesser Three Gorges, you will be transferred to a small boat (usually holds 30 people), enjoy the wonderful scene of deep and quiet gorges, the magnificent peaks as if they are cut by axes and knives. Back to ship for lunch, you will then enter the second gorge – Wu Gorge, known for its odd, misty rock formations and soaring mountain backdrop. After dinner, the crew members will entertain you with a “China Evening” performance. (B/L/D) Day 24 (Wed) Yangtze Cruise Today, you will take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai, the first gem of Chinese architecture on a protruding 200-metre (720-foot) hill. The red pavilion hugs one side of the rock; its tall yellow gate is decorated with lions and dragons. The spirit wall in the temple's main hall was constructed of excavated Han-dynasty (206 BC-AD 220). Return to ship and enter into the third gorge – Qutang gorge, the shortest but by far the most dramatic of the Yangtze's Three Gorges with Steep cliffs and fascinating oddities surrounding you. Tonight, enjoy a farewell party followed by another Chinese Evening performance. (B/L/D) Day 25 (Thu) Yangtze Cruise … Chongqing/Xi'an (by air) Arrive Chongqing and disembark early this morning at around 9:00 am. If light schedule permits, the city tour will take you to Panda Museum and People's Grand Hall before your flight to Xi'an, the most important archaeological sites in China and once the capital of 11 dynasties. (B/L/D) Hotel: Jianguo or similar 4* Day 26 (Fri) Xi'an (by coach) A full day excursion takes you to one of the most exciting archaeological finds – the unearthing of more than 6,000 Terra-cotta Warriors and horses. These figures guard the tomb of Emperor Qin and are buried in huge pits covering more than three acres. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a brick-tower architecture boasted a five-storey structure about 60 meters high. This evening you will enjoy a special Dumpling Dinner followed by the Tang Dynasty Dance Show. (B/L/D) Day 27 (Sat) Xi'an/Beijing (by air) Daytime in Xi'an, you will visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum and Ming Dynasty City Wall. You will fly to Beijing, the nation's even-century-old capital. After dinner, check-in to hotel. (B/L/D) Hotel: Millennium or similar 4* Day 28 (Sun) Beijing (by coach) Your tour starts in late morning to Tien'anmen Square, the largest public square in the world. Forbidden City, the largest existing ancient architectural structure in China today. Then visit the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of 15 th Century architecture. The Summer Palace presents a breathtaking arrangement of lake, landscape, pagodas and pavilions. (B/L/D) Day 29 (Mon) Beijing (by coach) Following breakfast, you will visit one of the Ming Tombs –Ding Ling, the tomb of the 13 th Emperor Zhu Yijun. It is the only Ming tomb to have been excavated. Take the stair-case down to the underground palace, located 100 feet below, where the emperor's primary wife and one concubine were buried with him, you can see some decorative chests and two stone thrones nowadays. Next, drive to the Great Wall at Bataling, the world's greatest man-made structure winding dragon-like across Northern China. This is the only earthly evidence of man visible from the moon. It becomes an emblem of Chinese cilvilization. On the way back to the city, you will stop by a cloisonné factory. Tonight, you will enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner.
